History
In 1938 founding members Chaim Gross (president), Paul Manship, Jose De Rivera, Jose de Creft, Herbert Ferber, William Zorach, Nathanial Kaz and others transformed an empty parking lot on Park Avenue into a notable sculpture exhibition. For nearly 75 years the Sculptors Guild continues to present local and traveling exhibitions, often reaching the communities we serve in 'alternative spaces' such as commercial buildings and public venues, bringing sculpture to the public, rather than vice versa.
The Guild has been supported by Carnegie Corporation, General Electric and Lever House and has had large exhibitions in The New York Botanical Gardens, NYU, Museum of Natural History, and The City of White Plains. In 1993 the Sculptors Guild opened its first foreign exhibition in Kyoto, Japan. In 2008 the Sculptors Guild participated in Art Cologne and in Supermarket Stockholm.
