Using a soldering iron as a paintbrush, Sawyer Rose sculpts abstracted botanical forms in layers of molten silver solder.
Recent projects: “Seeds of the Monoliths” features suspended, wall-hanging, and free-standing sculptural pieces armored in silver solder and copper. Previously, Rose exhibited a site-specific installation titled "FLUX." Suspended orbs created dynamic clusters in a warehouse-sized arts venue.
Major Commissions: Kaiser Permanente commissioned Rose to produce a six-panel metalwork for their corporate offices. Developers Gerding Edlen asked Rose to install a large-scale silkscreen on glass in The Etta Building, San Francisco, CA. Pacific Peninsula Group, architects and developers, commissioned a nine-piece suspended sculpture installation for one of their luxury showcase homes.
Residencies: The Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland (2016), Penland School of Crafts (2016), and Vermont Studio Center (2013, 2014, 2016).
