ARTIST STATEMENT

GATHERINGS

The social climate of our country has been one of relentless turbulence, questioning, and perhaps awakening. Whether it is about racial injustice or political, social or environmental activism; gatherings and protests have spontaneously arisen across our nation. In my latest work I have created 30 panels which play out the dynamics of a gathering, and can ideally be a group conversation and not just a group statement. The different and various shaped woods represent individual perspectives, beliefs and interactions. My goal is to provide the viewer with an abstraction of dialogue of what happens when we come together and listen to one another.
